Students of all different shapes and sizes. Here you see the tank top project in different stages of completion. With this project, each student experiences moving the dart into a different location along with sizing down for sewing with knit fabric. It's one thing to see me do this dart transfer, but it's another to do it yourself. The week was chock full of new experiences for each participant.
As Sally from AZ commented, 'I liked the group presentations and then being turned loose to try it ourselves. It is one thing to listen and watch and really helps me cement the concepts to actually do it.'
Then the sewing begins...
Then the trial fit and pattern refinements if necessary.
(If you've ever tried to photograph muslin, or fabric that's been over-worked or not pressed properly, and the lighting is not the best, you'll know the challenges I face to show you these photos. But here's a sampling anyway!)
All students then moved on to use their body blueprint to design the class projects - yoga pants and tank tops.
And...a comment about the studio, 'I appreciated the studio being open Thursday night and we were able to stay if we wanted. The studio was fantastic, lots of space, good lighting and if you forgot any supply it was there.'
And...the bodice Tank Top project!
And the ultimate reward for both myself and you the student is captured in this comment, 'I got home yesterday, and today I made a pair of lightweight wook pants that fit beautifully!'
